Usage of the MVAS Barton-Brown Observatory

All paid members are entitled to use the observatory and the electrically equipped paver observing pads. The 16" Seif Telescope, the 12" ATRC telescope and the 4" Dulak Solar Telescope may be operated only by qualified users who have completed the training program. The observatory is open to the general public during the dark of the moon for scheduled Public Stargazing (see schedule). Impromptu star gazing is scheduled at other times by qualified users when the weather permits. All qualified users must request time on the telescope and are subject to the rules and regulations posted on the password protected MVAS Telescope Schedule web site.  All members are given access to this web site, which lists the schedule for both types of stargazing (public and members). Qualified users may also request private viewing time for general and critical observing, astrophotography, training, research and to work on Astronomical League Observing Certificates. All members may use the observing pads at any time. Please, no smoking on the premises or in the observatory - it deteriorates optics.
